It’s a great pleasure to announce the publication of an article in Applied Optics, a journal part of the Optical Society of America. By exploring Grosseteste’s theory of rainbow formation, laid out meticulously in his thirteenth century treatise De iride [On the rainbow], with historical, theoretical and experimental approaches, we’ve come to some exciting findings! The article is completely open access, available to read and download here.
The writing and experimentation for the paper was led by Joshua, in collaboration with other researchers working on the Ordered Universe project. It further highlights the valuable–and often surprising–progress that interdisciplinary collaboration between the humanities and the sciences can forge. There is also a post about it on the official blog of the Ordered Universe project here.
Please do give it a read, and we’d love to hear your thoughts!
