the people on the project

a little bit about us

Joshua Harvey

Perceptual psychology

Joshua’s research explores the sensory experience and conceptualisation of diverse natural phenomena, including light, colour, sound and speech. Untested medieval hypotheses are evaluated with experimental methodologies, situating medieval observations and theories in modern physical and psychological sciences.

Tim Farrant

Theology and history

Tim’s work is broadly concerned with conceptions of nature and the reception of patristic theology in high medieval didactic, hexaemeral, and encyclopaedic Latin texts. As such his research is particularly interested in the theological purpose of the zoological, especially in England and Northern France at the turn of the thirteenth century.
